Frugal Saturday 8/26/23!

I've been a little under the weather this past week but I've kept busy in the garden!  We picked 1 bushel of beans. I canned 15 quarts of beans plus we had a big mess to eat.

A bushel of beans here are $32.00 and they are the normal Michigan blue lake (our white half-runners are ten times better).

We are finally picking ripe tomatoes and this is our biggest one.  We needed nothing else to go on our tomato sandwich.  It was a meal!

I found a double yolker in the hen house.  It was delicious!

I needed potatoes for the house so we dug 1 bushel of potatoes one day (grandson helped).

I entered the fair (I will tell you how I did next week), it looked good when I went earlier in the week.

What ways have you saved this past week?

Cheryl, We all are sick but I'm getting better. It was so nice when I needed potatoes to get out there and get me some!

Wow, you really saved money on the beans by growing your own. 15 quarts is excellent to have ready for winter time. It is so wonderful to go into your garden and get food for dinner.

Tomato sandwiches are the best and what a huge egg!

I hope you have another terrific week.

Good luck at the fair. Yummy on the beans and that tomato looks so good. I think my garden is about done, but I still have some tomatoes cukes and zucchini so I will enjoy them while they last.
Hope you have a great weekend.

Kathy,
Cukes and zucchini are two of my favorite things. So glad you still have some. Ours didn't do as well but the zucchini is still producing.
Have a great weekend too.

I wish I were able to can so many beans. Pint jars would work for us. A tomato sandwich is the best! How wonderful to go out back for potatoes! I cannot remember how we saved...lol. I am very stressed right now.

Practical you know the biggest part is stringing and breaking those beans up. We tend to make green beans the main dish a lot.
I hope you are able to relax this beautiful Sunday.
