Spring Cleaning Can Be Costly...my Total so Far!

This morning there is ice everywhere I guess ...so bad it closed schools. I refuse to listen to the news and I'm afraid to look outside. The husband will wake up soon, turn on the t.v., and open the blinds....then the nightmare will become reality.

Like so many others we are finally having a winter.  Afraid of losing power I've started the dish washer, put in a load of clothes, and put some Hamburger Stew in the crockpot. There is no place to go with this sort of weather (libraries and museums are closed) so this Spring Cleaning thing has helped me not to go ..well mad.

Mostly, I have been just cleaning, organizing, throwing out, and donating, but along the way I had to buy some things to help the house look and function better.  Cleaning my old pretty lace shower curtain didn't work anymore, the stains from the hooks were still there (I put this in front of my vinyl) so I bought a new shower curtain, an organizer to hold my plastic wrap and foil, I bought a new utility cart, and tape for my label maker.

When I see wraps at a estate sale I buy them up.  I'm well stocked as you can see.

I added it all up and I've have spent ....a grand total this month... of $81.19 (with a little savings from credit card earnings and gift cards).

His favorite spot.

Are you getting your spring cleaning done?   I hope to be done by early March so I can get outside as soon as it warms up.

Beautiful kitty!
Hope you don't lose power. Yum on the hamburger stew. I think our snow is starting to melt today, and we have rain in the forecast.
Great job organizing, and I love the shower curtain.

Cheryl, we know where to find him every day ...he hugs the furnace vent! Haha

Thanks kathy, it was the weirdest day today-instead of cold air we became warmer. Everything is melting! The morning drive was a mess but after the salt and warming temperatures we were good. The kids enjoyed a day off.

You were smart to do things, anticipating a possible power outage. Ice is the worst!
I’m very impressed you’ve only spent $81 in January.
We are coming off of a long stretch of extremely cold weather.
We had a little bit of ice that kept us home for a day, but I think the worst of the cold weather is over for the next 10 days anyway

You are so ambitious! We are expecting 6 inches of rain over the next 24 hours. I think we are staying in!

Lana, that's a lot of rain! I'm glad your staying in and being safe.

Our cats like to lay inthe sunny spots too. I did a lot of inventorying and cleaning out in my kitchen last week when we were stuck in the house due to frigid cold. I'm so glad it has warmed up here though and hope it does for you all soon. Hamburger stew sounds delicious. I'm going to check out your recipe and your label reader on Amazon.

Belinda, When it's cold it's a good time to get it done isn't it?
Hope you love my hamburger stew recipe.

Rhonda -Unexpectedly we got snow and ice this morning. I think about 3 or 4 inches. I don't know if they know how to predict this weather anymore. Stay warm.
