It's cold here today but the sun is shining. Now what do you do when it's too cold to work outside but you want to garden...you bring it inside!
I bought two of these raised beds to replace the wooden boxes we bought last year. Those wooden boxes we had were not made for raised beds LOL. They are basically are rotting. Luckily we only paid $10 a piece for them (2).
We have decided these will hold the flowers that I plant for pollination and something pretty. That will leave more space in the garden for vegetables. They will be placed in front of the green house. I'll show pictures when it warms up and we do that work.
Even though a million jobs are swirling in my mind...I can only do one two at a time.
I've started peppers and marigolds and I hope to start my tomatoes on Monday.
What's going on in your garden so far this year? I hope everyone is starting a little something to help with the groceries.

It seemed be winter forever and suddenly it is seed starting time. Glad you gave me a nudge!
I see a lot of gardens using those metal raised beds now and they look really good! I brought all our pots to one area of the yard and I've been raking leaves and trimming the holly bushes. It was 60 degrees here and felt so good, I just wanted to be out in the yard.
Lana, I don't think winter is really over here...it's one of those Spring things...LOL Have a great time planting.
We will hit 60 here Belinda sometime this week. Pretty sure it's just a pretend Spring thing but like you we will be out enjoying every minute of work!
I have been thinking about going galvanized for planters. We don't have a vegetable garden type of backyard, but a nice young man in the neighborhood has converted his whole backyard into one. He said my husband is welcome to come over to help and learn. I think that will be our best first step, as he is retiring this year and does want to garden more. I can't wait to see what your garden grows!
Ellie in AR (long time reader) Thank you, Vickie, for your inspirational blog. 🙂
This past weekend I purchased starter lettuce and spinach plants. Given my growing zone 8a/7b I didn't think there is "enough" cold weather to grow from seed before the heat will cause them to bolt. $5.99 for a 6 pack of plants. Ouch! If I harvest enough for 6 salads, however, it will be worth the extra expense. Iceberg lettuce is $1.99 per head @ the W super center. The spinach and bibb lettuce will be organic and higher in vitamins. A big win!
Thanks for your gardening encouragement.
Hi, I don't blame you at all for buying starter plants...It seems it's really hard to get the season just right. Here it's too cold then too hot real fast! I know your plants will do well. Lettuce is real high here too and it's not organic so there you go!
What a nice young man. Some people are so talented and got it going for sure. I love that. Your husband will love retirement. We are never bored!
