The old dirt was put in a wheelbarrow. Then, husband and grandson threw the wooden beds upside down in to the main garden to wait till garbage day. Then we put the new ones down and put in all the old dirt plus more to fill them up.
It was quite the heavy lifting and after it was done the grandson ran away. I told him I have more jobs but he didn't seem interested. ha ha but he will. He just needs time to recover. Money talks!

The metal beds are nice. They should last.
So much of gardening is live and learn here, too. Plastic raised boxes we have that are on wheels have split on the bottom . Why did we think they cold hold all that weight? I have had my eye on those steel beds and I hope you love them!
I hope they do Cheryl! Have a great day!
I think those steel beds will hold up..seems like a lot of people have them. We never know what will work I guess till we try. Have a great week Lana.
Sorry about the wooden beds, but I think your new beds will last longer. I have a similar steel bed, and it worked well last year. Hope it will be a good growing season.
That's good to hear Kathy that your steel beds worked great last year. It makes me have high hopes for this year!
My goal is to eventually put in galvanized beds like yours. I just don't know enough about gardening yet to dig up my patio! It's good to know that those type of wood boxes are not a good bet. Can't wait to see how things grow!
