from Amazon:
Lovina Miller should be thrilled. Pinecraft, Florida, has everything a young Amish woman could ask for: sun, sand, volleyball games, and evening singings in the park. But Pinecraft lacks the one thing Lovina desperately wants—a pie shop of her own. She longs for a place to gather with the community and serve the treat she loves.
A young carpenter named Noah Yoder strolls into her life and offers a way to make her dream come true. But before Noah and Lovina can build a shop—and a life—together, they must each face heartaches from the past. Is their new love stronger than their regrets?
My Thoughts:
I have a little secret and you will probably laugh a little. You see I went through and looked at all the Amish recipes first in this book. I knew how well Sherry Gore can cook and I couldn't wait to find out the recipes that were included! It was kind of like reading the back of the book to find out what happens. Just to let you know I was not disappointed!
On the other hand I've always loved Tricia Goyer's writing so I was doubly excited to read this book. So after I stopped dreaming about what recipe to try first, I found myself turning the pages of a great romance book. The pages came to life with Tricia Goyer's wonderful style of writing that was enhanced by "insights from Sherry Gore about her community." (per Tricia Goyer)
With each page flowing so smoothly, I felt myself become absorbed into the lives of some wonderful people in Pinecraft. I got to know them and understand their actions. With detailed descriptions I felt that I was right there strolling down the block with them, feeling the warm breezes, kicking the sand at the beach, or taking a bike ride down peaceful streets.
Noah was my favorite character of this book. He's a hard worker, genuinely cares about others, and would like to put his past behind him. Something we would all like to do.
Lovina came in a close second. She wanted to make her dream come to life and she never gave up. Again something we I should do!
This book kept me turning pages and I loved it!
I actually won this book from Harvest House Publisher in their latest contest! So nice and I was so excited! This is my honest opinion. Now excuse me, I'll be in the kitchen cooking!
