Frugal Friday: Garage Sale Profit and What We Bought 7/8/22!

So, last week we had the garage sale.  We made a total of $330.00  on things we no longer needed (we can move around in the garage now).  With prices soaring we wanted to make sure we spent it on things we needed for our home and land to keep it up and then onto things we needed like like food for our pantry.

First thing that hit my mind was another rain barrel.  This weather has been crazy anymore.  One minute we are fine with enough rain and the next minute we are in a small drought.  Right now it's a small drought. I use this water for watering my plants in pots and I use it for the chickens.  Lately, the rain barrel has started staying empty.

So, I began researching rain barrel's on Amazon and other sites and whew the prices on most were just unbelievable.  Then I went to Marketplace on Facebook and within days this one showed up for $50.00.  A lot more than I paid for my last rain barrel but times have changed. It's a deal for now.

Husband bought some kind of battery thing he needed for his tools for $72.00.

The rest was spent towards food.  You can see my grocery haul here.

How have you saved money this past week?

Vickie we have been doing the same thing and decluttering, selling and cleaning things as we have been going and sending them to the Men's Shed to sell for us :)

You did very well on making $330 and putting the money into needed items for your home such as food, the rain barrel and electric tool batter chargers for drills and the like.

We so far have made $224.80 from items we no longer needed in the home and have put that money into finishing off stocking the last of the items for our grocery stockpile. We finally found the reasonably priced tinned pears that had been after after 6 months of being out of stock so we now have those topped back up to a level we wanted them at. Also bought tinned tuna, tinned harvest long life meat and vegetables and topped up on my moisturiser on special and some more worcestershire sauce to increase stocks.

I am packaging up some handmade craft items I have made to take down to the men's shed today to sell as well and heard there is other things the men's shed have sold for us so will pick up more money today.

They are a good community organisation where men get to meet and make things together so we like to support them and they get a 20% commission from items we send to them to sell. They are currently using those funds to build a shed workshop for the men to work in to make things.

Have a great week ahead :).

I love that idea of a men's shed, Lorna. You are making money and so are they. Perfect! It's a good idea for everyone.
I'm glad you found your pears and other things you need. Like you, we decided to have a purpose for our money because otherwise it just disappears into the pot, if you know what I mean.
Have a great week!
