My Frugal Ways this Past week,What Was On the Dinner Table and My Goals for the Week 8/7/16

Here is a list of the frugal ways I've saved this past week.

Saving money with garden produce

I harvested green peppers, cukes, zucchini, tomatoes, and herbs from our garden just about every day last week.   We have had very little rainfall and extreme heat for our part of Michigan.  Even though we are watering the garden there will not be much to can much this year.  I water but it's just not as good as having a rainfall.  We are enjoying what we harvest for dinners and snacks.

I stopped at  Walgreen's to get the deodorant deal last week on the way home from church.  I bought two Mitchum deodorants for $1.00 a piece after rewards.

I bought printer ink at Staples then when I returned home there was a $10.00 Staples coupon waiting for me in the mail. Staples is just around the corner so I went back and they rang up my purchases again and included the coupon. That paid for 4 small shakes on the way home with some money to spare.

While I was decluttering  I found the $5 gift card for my husband from an auto parts store that had just a few days left on it. He bought 2 oil filters that were on sale to help him with oil changes.

We stocked up on John Morrell bacon for just $2.00 a pack at our local grocery store.

Despite objections husband insisted we drive another mile to see if another gas station was cheaper.  Lucky for him there was and we ended up saving $5.00 by going one more mile.  He had a little "I told you so" moment....

I received $5.00 coupon for Mcdonald's from the Reading Challenge for Adults program at the library.  We decided to use it on one of the hottest days this past week.  We also used coupons that came in the free paper and our dinner for 3 was only $3.50.

Used leftover bacon grease to cook the green beans from the garden.

Menu-What was on the Dinner Table-With the heat I found it hard to heat up my kitchen even with freezer meals.  We ended up eating out more than usual. We saved as much as we could with coupons and specials.  This Michigan girl can not handle the heat!

Monday        BLT's  (with fresh tomatoes!)

Tuesday        Green beans, leftover chicken, cornbread dressing, fried cabbage

Wednesday   Out to eat -Pizza ($5.00 pizza)

Thursday       Hot dogs

Friday           Used that McDonald's card

Saturday        Out to eat with friends

Sunday         Grilled Rosemary Pork Chops, Green beans, creamy coleslaw, tomatoes, and cukes.  They say it's going to be cooler today so I'll try to grill enough for a couple days meals.

My Goals for this week:

In the garden:

Weed the vegetable gardens.

Harvest the green beans.

In the Home:

Cleaning the carpets:  I just need to clean the guest bedroom carpet.

Declutter the two end table drawers that are hard to shut.

Blog:

Write a book review.
