Runaway Thoughts

Right towards the end of homeschooling yesterday we lost internet service.  Grandson smiled, I seriously think it made his day.  Well, that is until he figured out he couldn't play any games on my computer, ha ha.

Runaway thoughts though kind of raced through my mind.  You know, how sometimes you think about what could have happened and it's all bad.  Well I'll admit, I fell into that trap!   First thought was, did they get my payment?  Next thought, did my husband while working on my house yesterday drill into something?  You know, like those wireless wires.  Oh man, then the next thought was, is the internet down everywhere? Then that thought led to, is everyone working there sick?  Yep, the world was ending without the internet.  Oh my goodness, I think I need rest!

I took the kids home and used the cell phone to talk to an agent.  She had me back up in about 15 minutes.  Something about clearing the cables lines and restarting the modem.  I don't know but it's working.

My homeschooling lesson for yesterday?  Keep calm and carry on.  Jeez!

Please leave a comment and let me know how it's going in your neck of the woods.

Ha, my first thought when I read your title, runaway thoughts was run away from home. Almost everything that could go wrong, did yesterday, and I really would have loved to run away for a few hours. :)
Glad you were able to get your internet fixed. Hope you have a good weekend.

I've said that same thing Kathy that I wanted to run away. You have a great weekend too!

Oh, yes I know about those thoughts especially in the night. As soon as anything goes out in our neighborhood my husband starts getting texts from the other neighbor guys asking if ours is out, too. That is always reassuring. But, we had to laugh when the young guy across the street asked if our well wasn't pulling any water because maybe the water table is down. We thought, 'Is he kidding? We had eight inches of rain in the last week!' It was his pump as we suspected. Last night I took a survey right before bed about chicken sandwiches and then kept dreaming that a crowd was clamoring and begging me for a chicken sandwich. So weird.

Your comment is so reassuring to me Lana. I'm not crazy after all. Ok maybe a little. We have been in lockdown too long!
Sorry to hear about that neighbors well pump. I'm glad though he still had water.
Dreams can be wild!

I have to reboot my modem so often that it's just normal. It's always the first thing I do if my internet goes down....which is probably at least once or twice a month...more during tornado season. I hate when it goes down during my free time....we are definitely seriously attached to ours.

It's not as hard as it used to be though because we have smart phones now.

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

We are attached as well. We use Sling TV and Magicjack so phone and tv go down. This is the first time in forever that our internet went down. Next time I'll boot up my modem myself like you do and see if that will help. I didn't know what to do but now I understand.

I lost internet service for about half an hour yesterday - I was afraid maybe the box had failed as my TV cable service was still fine. The company must have had a glitch somewhere as it finally came back on. It is a bit nerve wracking though as I use email so much and work from home now as well!

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

Oh man so you were in a little bit of the same predicament. It really is nerve wracking Margie. I never thought about how much we have come to depend on it.

Oh, we are soooooo dependent on the internet! I don't understand the first little thing about how to fix it when there is trouble, but hubby was the number one most highly trained internet tech in this area for a large telecommunications company before he retired and while he can't do much physically anymore he is good at giving instructions just about anyone can follow to get things fixed.

I have noticed that the parking lots in town are filling up, there are many more cars on the road, and not many people are wearing masks. I worry we are going to have a resurgence of cases of CIVID-19 here.

All the local groceries are limiting meat purchases. I understand why, but I think this is just making folks go to the store more often. My hubby was so worried we would run out he asked me to get a half of beef, but after having him help inventory the chest freezer he relaxed.

Your husband has a lot of knowledge about computers. I bet that helps a lot.
We've noticed the same thing here in our area about people with no masks and more people at the stores. We are waiting on the side lines and barely going anywhere. Someone wrote on facebook that when everything opens up that just means they have more room in the ICU for you. I had never thought about it like that. I hope that isn't true.
